The Golden Key Asia-Pacific Conference has been held in Melbourne but also in nearby locations such as the Gold Coast and Canberra. The Asia-Pacific Conference provides a fantastic opportunity to meet other Godlen Key members from across the region and learn from distinguished speakers about leadership, teamwork and other universally important themes. Golden Key also hosts annual international conferences, usually based in the USA. As a Golden Key member, you have a unique opportunity to get involved with the committee and possibly be selected for a subsidised trip to attend one of these conferences (in 2005 the International Conference was held in Los Angeles and in 2008 it was held in New Orleans). Below is a transcript from the 2009 Monash Golden Key President, Anthony Sciuto, reflecting on his experience at the 2008 International Conference: “Initially I believed that the conference would be much like other conferences – "all work and no play" however it turned out to be much more. I never thought I could have so much fun at a conference! I met students from other Australian and International universities that I would never had the chance to meet had it not been for Golden Key. We ate local cuisine, saw the sights of New Orleans and went to many Jazz and Blues clubs on Bourbon St. Although we only spent a short time together I can truly say that I now have good friends in many different parts of the world.” MGK EventsMonash Golden Key also hosts a number of events throughout the year. These include careers events (such as the Careers Cocktail Evening), social events (such as Free Movie Nights and drink nights), community service activities (such as the annual Red Cross Door Knock, Charity Trivia Night and Race Against Poverty) and academic events (such as lunchtime lectures and the Youth Forum for talented VCE students).
